How each payment method works.

Stripe Secure Checkout

Card payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. — a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment processor used by millions of businesses worldwide. We never see, store, or transmit your card number on our servers.

Accepted networks: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover. Payment is authorised and captured at checkout; your card statement will show REDWOOD BOOKS.

Cash on Delivery (COD)

When you select COD at checkout, no payment is collected on this site. We prepare, pack, and hand your order to USPS or UPS. The carrier collects the full order total in cash when the package is delivered to your door.

Please have exact cash ready. The amount collected on delivery is the same total shown at checkout — no surcharge, no expected tip.

How COD Delivery Attempts Work

The carrier attempts delivery twice. If nobody is available, the package is held at the local facility for pickup for a limited window. If it returns to us undelivered, we email you to arrange a reship or cancel the order at no charge.

If You're Not Home

Card orders: the carrier will leave the package if it's safe to do so, or attempt redelivery. COD orders: cash must be handed over in person, so the carrier will retry or hold the package for local pickup.

Site Security

Every page of this site — homepage, product pages, cart, checkout — runs over 256-bit SSL/TLS. Card data is tokenised in the browser by Stripe.js and never transits our servers unencrypted.

Refunds & Disputes

Card refunds are issued to the original card via Stripe within 14 days of us receiving a return. Cash on Delivery refunds are issued according to the return instructions provided by customer support. See our Returns Policy for the full process.
