We stand behind every book we sell. If you're not satisfied, returns are easy and no-hassle.

What can be returned

  • Books in like-new condition (unread preferred)
  • Original dust jacket intact (if it came with one)
  • No highlighting, margin notes, water damage, stains, or odor
  • Within 14 days of delivery (verified by tracking date)
  • Purchased directly from Redwood Books

What cannot be returned

  • Books with visible wear, writing, highlighting, or damaged pages
  • Books past the 14-day window
  • Books purchased elsewhere
  • Signed / autographed books (non-returnable, as noted at purchase)
  • Rare / collectible books (please ask before purchase)
  • Items marked Final Sale

Condition grades

  • New: appears unread, dust jacket perfect
  • Like New: minimal evidence of reading
  • Very Good: some shelf wear, no writing
  • Good: more visible wear, possible light markings
  • Fair: significant wear, may have light writing
  • Poor: heavy wear, may be unreadable in places

We clearly mark the condition for used books and describe them accurately.

How to return — step by step

Request return (within 14 days)

Contact us at +1 (316) 294-3906 or Contact@redwoodbooks.store. Include your order number, book title and author, reason for return, and photos if damaged. We respond within 24 hours.

Receive return instructions

We'll tell you where to ship the book, how to ship it, and whether we cover return shipping. Defective or carrier-damaged books: we cover return shipping with a prepaid label. Change of mind: you cover return shipping (~$5–$8 typical).

Ship the book back

Pack carefully (same way it arrived). Use a tracked service and keep your receipt. Send within 7 days of approval.

We inspect

When we receive the book we check condition, verify it's returnable, and approve or deny. Timeframe: 5–7 business days. We email you the decision either way.

Refund issued

If approved, a full refund is issued to your original payment method within 30 days of receipt (typically much sooner). It may take 5–10 days for your bank to display it. If denied, we explain why and try to find a solution.

What you get back

  • Full purchase price of the book
  • Refunded to original payment method
  • Original shipping is not refunded unless we made an error or the carrier damaged the item

Example

You paid $15.99 (book) + $5.00 (shipping) = $20.99. You return the book in perfect condition: you get back $15.99 (the $5.00 shipping is non-refundable). If the book arrived damaged by the carrier, you get back the full $20.99 plus free return shipping.

Timing

  • Inspection after we receive: 1–3 days
  • Refund processed on our side: 2–5 days
  • Bank processing: 5–10 days
  • Total timeline: up to 30 days

Exchanges

Want a different book instead of a refund? Contact us with your order and the title you want. We'll provide a prepaid return label, inspect on arrival, and ship the new book at no additional cost. Total time is typically 10–15 days.

Special items

  • Autographed / signed books: non-returnable (authenticity cannot be re-verified)
  • Rare / collectible books: non-returnable (clearly marked; condition is the selling point)
  • Clearance / Final Sale: non-returnable
  • Pre-orders: can be canceled before release; non-returnable after release if opened
